Top 10 Favorite Desserts
It’s that time of year when eating becomes more than just, “What’s for dinner?” It’s raised to an art form. Perhaps it’s tradition to have rum cake on Thanksgiving, or there’s the expectation that Aunt Mary will make candied almonds for Christmas. I’m not so seasonally inclined when it comes to desserts. I like them all year long and will eat almost any you put in front of me. Of course, there are some I like—no, love—more than others. So here is my list of top ten favorite desserts.
- Pumpkin pie- I love anything pumpkin and a pie is perfect the second day. I just cut it and eat it for breakfast like a slice of pizza.
- Jello- Yes, I love Jello. There’s been talk about Jello molds with cut up fruit and nuts and whipped cream and stuff floating in it. Me, I’m a Jello purest. Plain and perfect. Red it best.
- Lemon Meringue pie- I used to get this with my grandparents. I like it cold in the summer.
- Peanut Butter pie- My great-aunt’s recipe. This has a big top of meringue and the filling has custard and peanut butter. It’s so dang good my mouth is watering while I type this.
- Ginger ale float- My grandfather would make these in the summer. Ginger ale with rainbow sherbet in it. It’s like a root bear float, but more refreshing.
- Carrot Cake- LOVE! With walnuts and cream cheese frosting. What more is there to say?!
- Cheesecake- I won’t narrow it down to a specific flavor because they’re all good, but again, I’m fine with the traditional plain. When it’s good, it doesn’t need adornment.
- Snickerdoodles- I love the sugar cookie/cinnamon combination. They’re always soft, too. A portable treat!
- Peach cobbler- I’m not a big fan of warm fruit, but peaches are the best. Mixed with crumbly topping, it’s sweet and doughy and fabulous. Especially with whipped cream.
- Gingerbread cake- Spicy and dark, this begs to be cut with a huge dollop of whipped cream.
I could go on and on, but have to stop at ten. Yes, there was nothing chocolate on that list. Why? Yes, this may be blasphemous for chocolate lovers, but I’m not that much of a fan. Don’t hate me, just remember there’s more for you!
I’m sure you have your favorite desserts. Email me and tell me all about it!
About the Author
Who doesn’t love the romance of the old West? USA Today Bestselling author Vanessa Vale takes the sensual appeal of rugged cowboys a step further with her bestselling books set in the Montana Territory. They are much more than just sexy historical westerns. They’re deliciously naughty reads that sometimes push the boundaries of fantasy. It’s pure escapism with quite a few very hot, very alpha cowboys. When she’s not writing, Vanessa savors the insanity of raising two boys, is figuring out how many meals she can make with a pressure cooker, and teaches a pretty mean karate class. She considers herself to be remarkably normal, exceedingly introverted and fairly vanilla, which does not explain her steamy stories and her fascination with cowboys, preferably more than one at a time. She lives in the Wild Wild West where there’s an endless source of ‘research’ material.
