Rules of Harte (Harte, #1) by Brooke Harris
Goodreads
*** Author note *** Brooke Harris is an Irish author, Rules of Harte is set in Dublin, with a cast of primarily Irish characters. It is not a violent book but there are questionable amounts of swearing, native sexual slang and explicit sex scenes. Julian Harte is Irish, he thinks Irish, acts Irish and says F*ck a lot. Eva Andrews is not. But she still says f*ck a lot. Please do not read if you are under 17. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this note xx
My Review for Rules of Harte (Harte, #1) by Brooke Harris
Where do I start? The book is set in Ireland, but the heroine is from the states. I really wish I could have connected with Evangeline’s character, but the fact that she was thinking words that were not used in the states confused me. Words such as lift, knickers, and such were used frequently and I kept reminding myself that she was from New Jersey. Julian…I actually liked Julian’s character, but definitely didn’t understand his whole persona, who exactly he is and what made him the way that he is now.
The storyline could have worked if not for the distraction of the fact that as a reader I knew how it was going to work. Eva was wishy-washy Julian, Nathan, Julian…whatever happened to Nathan. Eh, I don’t know. There was no conclusion to the story as there is a second book coming out. Personally, I’m thinking that now that the foundation has been laid, that the second book may be more cohesive.
I feel that Ms. Harris has the beginnings of a solid story, it just needs more work to make it more cohesive.
