Bound by Brenda Rothert
Synopsis
College senior Kate Camden has learned to adapt – to her last year of school, to the promise of motherhood, to the fact that she’s doing it all alone. But just when she’s learned to adjust, heartache threatens to break her apart.
Pro hockey player Jason “Ryke” Ryker has it all: adoring fans, a promising career, and a beautiful wife.
But when his seemingly perfect life is shaken by tragedy, he’s left questioning whether having it all is ever more than an illusion.
When circumstance brings Kate and Ryke together, they discover they don’t have to hurt alone. Bound by a grief that haunts them both, they must rely on one another to survive heartbreak. But that grief is more powerful than they realize, and the tie that binds them together may ultimately tear them apart.
My Review
I was worried when I started reading Bound by Brenda Rothert, but I only say that because both of the main characters face tragic losses in the first few chapters. I’ll tell you now, just keep reading. I love the story between Kate, a college senior who is learning to live through her loss and Ryke, our super-hot, intense, sexy hockey player. Holy hotness! Okay, calming back down now. Honestly, though, if you want sex on a hockey stick, here it is. 😉
Okay, okay, back to the review. Ryke faced his loss, but hasn’t really moved on, until he meets Kate, then they try to figure out if they can work through their issues and be something more. I was really hoping for more bedroom, but there was romance and I am thrilled that there was a happily ever after.
Ryke has a heart of gold and tries to give Kate what she needs, a job, and falls in love with her somewhere along the way.
This was the first book that I’ve read by Brenda Rothert. I liked the flow and pace of the book and the emotional pull of the characters. I enjoyed this read thoroughly and would love to see more of Ryke and Kate. Definitely on my must-read list.
