My Review of Captive by Brenda Rothert
Captive by Brenda Rothert is the follow up to Bound. Be sure you read Bound first so you get the chance to meet Kate and Ryker. Oh, Ryker. Yes, you definitely want to meet him. Okay, I’m done swooning for a minute. π
I absolutely fell in love with this couple in the first book and wanted only good things for them. On a positive note, they do get married (we get to see it in a flashback) but happiness is not in their immediate future. They are both still dealing with loss and have a gigantic mountain to overcome. At one point I was saying to myself (I talk to myself often) – REALLY?? WTH!! We need happiness!!!
Honestly, it took me a bit to get into Captive because I didn’t want to see Kate have to deal with any more loss. Once I truly got into the book, I loved the strength and passion they still carried for each other throughout the story.
Brenda Rothert gives our emotionally exhausted couple the happily ever after that we as readers want and need. For that I am truly appreciative. This story deals with the struggles of loss, as well as coping with both physical and emotional distance. It also shows us how being honest and not giving up can pave the way for a better future.
If you’ve had the pleasure of reading Kate and Ryker’s story, this is a must read follow-up.
