My Review of The Other Side of Someday by Carey Heywood
He’s the personification of my southern gentleman come to life, except for in the bedroom. There, he’s all things and some of them not very gentlemanly, and I love it.
I dove in the moment The Other Side of Someday by Carey Heywood hit my Kindle. I’ve read Carey’s other works and I knew I was going to like this one. Personally, the last few books she has written have made me tear up and bawl like a baby so I had my tissues on hand just in case. Luckily, I didn’t need many tissues this time. Carey has an amazing ability to weave a story that holds on and keeps you engaged throughout the entire book.
This is a sweet romance. Not a YA romance, this is a early-thirties romance. I was invested from the first few paragraphs and read from beginning to end in one sitting. The characters were engaging and I really was looking forward to what came next. Especially since the first day we meet Courtney everything that can go wrong, does. She does what she can do recover and moves in with her mom. Nothing like moving in with mom to clear your perspective on life.
If Courtney is emotionally broken, Clay is emotionally closed-off. But damn, I love that man. Everyone should have a Clay. Strong, protective, and sexy. That’s all we need in life, right? π Meeting Courtney brings about some changes for our man Clay, but is Courtney too broken to be mended? You have to read the story! What endeared me to Courtney was her sense of humor and both characters had a sense of family. You’ll find that this story is filled with characters that are easy to relate to and root for.
This was a heartwarming story with characters that I fell in love with. Easily one of the best books I’ve read this year. Sweet, sexy, and heartwarming. The Other Side of Someday is a book that makes you believe true love exists and that your perfect match is out there. Is that too much pressure to throw on a book/author? I think not. Now, go buy it!
Oh, and Clay’s friend Luke is getting his own story in the Fall. Can’t wait.
