My Review of Take Me Out by Danielle A. Elwood
I read the completely re-edited version of Take Me Out. This is a book that I purchased on Amazon.
Take Me Out is Danielle A. Elwood’s first novel. This is the story of Charlie (Charlotte) and Bentley, how they met, the struggles that ensue and how they get their happily ever after. This is the perfect Sunday afternoon, relaxing by the pool, Summer read.
Charlie and Bentley are both students in Boston, they both love baseball and they are both drawn to each other. This is a love story, as well as a story about finding yourself. Bentley is the Bad Boy and Charlie is the young, innocent, rich girl. If only it were that simple.
Bentley has more going on than being a “bad boy.” He won’t sleep with a girl more than once, he likes to party and he’s got a past. That’s not the secret he’s hiding. I’ve got to tell you, I didn’t see that secret coming.
I really wanted to like Charlie, I really wanted to, but I couldn’t. She had some redeeming qualities, though I can’t think of any right now. I’m sure she actually did. But I didn’t like how she wouldn’t actually talk to Bentley about what she was feeling, she just went her own way and did what she wanted. They spent a fair amount of time apart (in the physical sense) mainly because she wouldn’t talk to him, let him explain anything, or be around. It was frustrating and I just wanted to yell at her, I think maybe I did yell at one point. 😉
There is shower sex, beach sex and first time romance in Take Me Out. There is also a stalker, a loss and finally finding love in this one.
I do think this is a good read for a weekend, just know going in that Charlie is a frustrating character and you may yell at the screen while reading. That’s my personal opinion, but she is young and inexperienced so maybe I can give her a pass this time.
Definitely check out Take Me Out and Danielle A. Elwood’s new novel, Crashed, coming out on August 15th.
