The Timing is Everything Series is one of my favorites. The characters were moving, relatable, and a few were even swoon-worthy. 😉 Check out my reviews of all three books in the series and then pick it up and get lost for a weekend.

My Review of Moving Forward

Moving Forward by Erika Ashby is a true romance story and even includes a hunky firefighter/drummer. I absolutely love Derek. He’s hot, caring, sensitive, and HOT! Jesika goes through so much throughout the course of this story and I love that Derek finally gets things right and they find themselves in a relationship.

Derek will do anything for Jesika, but he has to tell her the truth about everything. There are even a few things the reader doesn’t see coming. As for the secondary characters, I love Jesika’s best friend, Mallory. She has a party-girl mentality and is always having fun. Seth, Derek’s brother, is a character I’d love to read more about.

This is a well written book and keeps you engaged in the story line. It is a sweet love story with romance and hot, steamy sex.

My Review of No Going Back

No Going Back by Erika Ashby is part 2 of the Timing is Everything Series. It goes a little like this: Mallory meets bad boy rock star playboy, Seth thru her best friend in the first book. Seth is hot, tattooed, and pierced….yummo! Mallory is crazy, fun loving, and promiscuous – yes, I said that and she even tells it like it is. Filter, what filter? She doesn’t have one.

Mallory and Seth meet, hook up, and try and find love along the way with each other. Seth has a hard time realizing his heart is strong enough to handle the love Mal has for him. They go thru many trials and tribulations, and manage to find their Happily Ever After.

Erika Ashby did it again. She had us falling in love with the story and the characters in this book. This is a light, fun, and quick read. Plus, the sex is banging hot! It’s definitely a 5 star follow up.

Novella – Prequel to Moving Forward

Jake Reynolds’ life had always been perfectly mapped out for him as he was growing up. The only time he ever felt like he had any control over it was when he was inside the cage—the same cage that held no for sure outcome. In his twisted mind being inside that ring with his opponent was the most freeing feeling. In that moment alone he was able to let his perfected guard down and be who he wanted to be.

From the outside looking in, everything about Jake’s life looked perfect, but he knew that he wasn’t. His whole life had been set up for him before he was even born, and even though it’s not the life he wanted, he continued living it.

That was his mindset until the night Jesika showed up at his fight. He knew she was different from the get-go. He also knew he didn’t deserve her, but that didn’t mean he didn’t want to try. Jake had skills inside and out of the cage and he was known to always get what he wanted no matter the risk. But was he willing to change who he had always been in order to keep the one that he thought was worth the fight? Will it all be worth it in the end?

My Review of In the End

I’ve read both Moving Forward and No Going Back by Erika Ashby so when In the End was published, I bought it the same day. It’s a novella of 65 pages, so it really doesn’t take very long to read. Honestly, though, if you’ve read the first two books in the series about Jesika, Derek and Jake you must read this book. This is Jake’s story from Jake’s point of view. It includes the letter that he wrote to Jesika before the accident in the first book. This is a prequel, but I would recommend reading it after the first two books so that it makes sense.

I tried not having sympathy for Jake after what he put Jesika through and lied to her, but there is a part of him that is good and decent. Nobody can see it, but I’m sure that deep down it is in there. Any questions that were raised in the first two books about Jake’s past, his loyalties and what he was thinking all comes together in the third book. You get all the answers you’ve been looking for.

I’ve been waiting for this book to come out. I read the first two and at the end of the second one, we find out there is a letter from Jake to Jesika. That’s where the third book comes in. In the End was an emotional read for me. It pulled me in from the first chapter and had snippets of Jake’s letter to Jesika at the beginning of each chapter. You don’t want to miss this one.
