My Review of Twice in a Lifetime by Ruthie Henrick
I thought Twice in a Lifetime by Ruthie Henrick had a good story to it, however, it was not my favorite style of writing. In my opinion, the book might have been better off being split into a series vs. one book. The book covers the span of over 20 years. To cover all of that in one book is a bit difficult. I would have loved to see more story and character development to make the book longer and again, have a series of books. Instead, I felt like we were jumping through everything very quickly. Even from paragraph to paragraph. This left me confused a lot of the time wondering how we traveled days or even weeks, months between the paragraphs.
On the other hand, there was a lot that I felt was over described and I found it hard to get through. It’s a good story but just maybe not a great execution. I really hate to leave a somewhat negative review but I need to be honest at the same time. I know that the author poured her heart and soul into writing this book and I don’t want to dismiss the book altogether. This book just wasn’t one of my favorites to read but that’s not saying someone else wouldn’t love it.
There are two main BBFs in this book. Ben I would give a 1 out of 5 stars. Jake, on the other hand, deserves at least a 4 out of 5.
