Welcome to Sugartown by Carmen Jenner Review

My Review of Welcome to Sugartown

Be warned ahead of time…there is a horrible rape scene in this book. Honestly, the scene itself was very well written (for what was happening), but I want to let you know that there is a rape scene before you start reading.

Welcome to Sugartown by Carmen Jenner starts out as a fun, lighthearted read. We learn a lot about Ana Belle and her best friend, Holly. They live in a small town and, as with all small towns, rumors spread like wildfire. There has actually been a rumor about Ana running around for a couple years, but holds no truth.

Ana and Holly are 19 year old friends that work in her parents’ bake shop. Ana is an awesome pie maker and has been since before her mother’s death. She has the cutest little brother, Sammy, who is actually around a lot. I love the conversations between Ana and Holly, but love the interaction between Ana and her brother. It’s sweet.

Just when we’re getting to know Ana, Holly, and Sammy – a hot, tattooed, 23 year old, motorcycle riding guy shows up across the street. *Insert Drool Here* Let’s all welcome Elijah Cade to Sugartown. He’s making a new life for himself, leaving behind a trail of hidden secrets and another life. We follow Elijah as he falls for Ana, and Ana as she tries not to fall for Elijah. Although, to be honest, she may not have tried hard enough to NOT fall for him. 😉

Elijah is an ultimate bad boy, ex-con, hiding from a Motorcycle Club. There is a scene where they are chased and Elijah shows what he’s made of and it’s not sugar and spice. He is all alpha, MC guy. This is probably where the book takes a darker turn, rather than staying lighthearted and fluffy. If you keep reading, the book actually gets lighthearted and fluffy again after all the dark. So, keep reading and you’ll see more about Holly and we get to meet yummy Jackson.

Ana and Elijah have a heart-wrenching, toe-curling relationship. They are young, sometimes dumb, but totally in love. Maybe it’s their pasts that cause so much trouble in the present. I definitely want to see more of Jackson and I hope he has his own book.

This is one heck of a debut novel for Carmen Jenner. This was a fast read and had a great pace. The story kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. Love, Love, Love. Definitely as must read.

Available on Amazon.
