My Review of Wildcard: Volume 1 by Missy Johnson
“Players prepare for matches in different ways. I’m sure for some a good night’s sleep does the trick, but for me, I’ll take an evening of rough and sweaty sex over a quiet night any day of the week.”
Oh, dear. Ryder Stevens is a hot, talented tennis player and he definitely has the “player” part down pat. He’s a 24 year old British tennis player and loves having fun with the ladies. That is until Scarlett comes into his life. Scarlett is the feisty mom of a child that sent Ryder a letter. It’s a bit of a whirlwind from there.
Missy has created a man-whore who is about to change his ways and a mother who is trying to do all she can for her sick child. I love the banter between both characters and the fact that Scarlett gives as good as she gets. We see Ryder’s sensitive side and love watching as he tries to be a better man.
At 25k words this novella doesn’t take long to read and once you finish it, you’ll be begging Missy Johnson for Volume 2! Luckily, part 2 will be available on September 16th so it’s not a long wait. 😉
Even with the length of the novella, Missy has created characters that make us want to see where the story goes. I haven’t read many books recently that have the main character as a tennis star and that adds a nice twist to the story. Both fun and sexy, Wildcard: Volume 1 is the perfect start to a new serial.
Note that because this is a serial there is a nice little cliffhanger to keep you coming back for more.
